Mentors
We are looking for youth mentors that are generally around the ages of 15-19 that would be willing to be paired with one of our youth immigrants. Our current program lasts for three months, but we encourage you to stay in contact with your mentee!! Due to our focus on breaking language barriers, we also prefer applicants that are at least semi-fluent in more than one language. The mentor would be in charge of regular message exchange with the mentee, prompted by the YBIT Team if necessary. Mentors are also required to meet with their mentees at least one hour a week over a call or in person. These meetings would be utilized for the mentee to gain language experience in a safe environment while gaining the opportunity to ask for help for anything from where to eat to schoolwork.

Mentees
If you are a youth that has recently immigrated, we would love to pair you with one of our amazing mentors to help make the immigration process more streamlined and comfortable! By joining any one of our 4 language-based programs (French, Hindi, Mandarin, Ukrainian), you have the unique ability to communicate with your mentor in your native language as you learn the local language. Through our programs, you can hear important information about the new country, gain a deeper understanding of the new culture, get help with schoolwork, and build friendships as well as community.
